PLEASE NOTE: due to a large number of submissions, effective 1/7/2019, we are currently only accepting POETRY SUBMISSIONS through as general submissions. Prose submissions made between this date and the end of our current reading period will be politely declined with an invitation to be resubmitted during our next reading period beginning in August 2019.
We accept unsolicited submissions. Submissions will only be accepted during deadlines posted above. All submissions must be previously unpublished. Although we accept simultaneous submissions, please write to us immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere. Our standard response is 1-2 months, and sometimes sooner, during our reading period. Please wait to hear back from us before sending more work.
Short stories and essays should be no more than 5000 words. We will consider exceptional flash fiction and micro-essays that are no more than 800 words, as well as genre work only if it expands upon genre conventions. Excerpts from book-length manuscripts must be self-contained. Please submit double-spaced, professionally formatted prose.
Up to 6 poems per submission. Please send all poems in a single document.
Artwork must be photographed with minimum 300 dpi of your work. 2-D artwork only. Please no photographs of 3-D work or sculptures. Digital art must be sent as a vector format (.ai, .eps) or rasterized (.jpg, .tif, .psd). Create outlines or rasterize all text layers, if present.
*All artwork is subject to cropping at the discretion of the Design Editor for layout purposes. If do not wish to allow your work to be cropped in any way, please note this in your cover letter.

Editor’s Prize Contest
Columbia College Literary Review also invites submissions for our first annual Editors’ Prize contest. This year we are asking for the best creative nonfiction or fiction in 5000 words or less. Entries will be judged by the editorial staff, and all entries will be considered for publication. The contest winner will be featured in the 2018 edition of CCLR and will receive a prize of $100. Entries will be accepted via Submittable. Please indicate that you are submitting to the contest by choosing the correct category. Entry into this contest is free. Submissions will be accepted between October 12, 2018 and January 7, 2019.
